Abstract

Sex slaves have been prevalent since Greek times and today it continues to thrive. The kidnapping and selling of women and children is taking place all over the world to satisfy people’s sexual desires. The problem is that this issue lies on a lot of borders, be it other countries, government, poverty, economy, war, extortion, and demand. An estimated 20,000 people are trafficked into the United States each year. Other countries have strict laws against sex slavery while others do nothing and rather allow it. The reason people use sex slaves because they don't have to pay their people and it receives a lot of demand from other countries (helping the economy). In the past decade the Trafficking Victims Protection Act was created in the US. It was meant to protect these victims but instead it gives violators an advantage in the court since they have to prove that it happened. The other big problem is the laxness of the border. Some of the officials receive bribes from traffickers. It isn't considered a major crime or concern in the United States. There has been some progress with catching these people but there isn't enough work being done to catch them all.

What we need to do is fix the issue here in the US, so that other countries can follow us on getting rid of this barbaric tradition of human violation. There are ways like letting people know about the situation through movies, books, articles, and PSA but the best way to make an impact is to make laws in the United States that help the situation. We could change the TVPA Act to allow victim's responses as evidence against the smugglers rather than evidence of smuggling and prostitution. We could have more cases examined and have people screened thoroughly at the border. But the most helpful is people speaking up in their neighborhoods and reporting it. So the plan is to get people to do what they can to help these people.

defending food

Some people chose to eat the way they do because it's either cheap, easy to make, or they don't care or know what it's made of and what it will do to them. We're so far into creating foods that are cheap that our whole society relies on it's efficiency. The government should try to regulate the food industry to make it more efficient rather then cheap and chemically harmful. Also they should let the public know about it and have companies try to follow healthy eating habits. They should not allow these companies to own or control patents for living things like seeds.

Biography (I know I wrote it as an autobiography)

My parents fought over what they would name me when I was born. My father wanted it to be Nova and my mother wanted Evelina so the compromised with a combination of both, Novalina. To them it meant their shooting star and just like that the genes and relationship of my parents created me. Growing up with my parents led me to believe that everyone needed a healthy happy relationship. So I vowed to help people become self aware and love themselves first in order to find the one they love and their dreams.

My family has been my biggest influence in my life especially my dad. When he was growing up as a Puerto Rican kid moving to the USA, his parents told him to become a janitor. But he would strive for higher by becoming a computer technician. When I was growing up he taught me to do the same, and even now my parents continue to help my business ventures.

During my life relationships have been a big deal to me. In my high school and college days I had a relationship for six years. After breaking up I found that I learned a lot about my self through dating someone. I became aware of the things that I didn’t like and the ones I thought were important and began to change. People may find it hypocritical that I’m unmarried but that’s only because I haven’t found the found the one that I want to be with for the rest of my life.

All my life I’ve been pursuing my dreams by going to Davies College or getting a job as a radio DJ. And now I’ve found what may be my true task in life. I am writing a book about how women should love themselves and find her future without doubt. But I’m not just writing it by myself, it’s a collaboration of ideas and solutions of other writers just like me that are passionate about this idea. Hopefully I will become successful in getting the message across to people and help them along in life.

You don’t have to have all the answers or a perfect relationship because imperfection is a part in life that shows who we are as an individual and who were a match for. My love for people has always drove me to help and learn about others and their relationships by giving advice some would see me as their shooting star that started their life.

America's involvement

I don't believe that the United States should create excuses for going into another country especially if its for their own agenda. They should only be aloud to "help" when they are asked for help in funds, liberating a country, etc. literally the country as a whole has to vote that America must help but not to interfere or create more excuses and problems while were there. there have been many times were the CIA, FBI, Army etc. have infiltrated other countries and help for their our countries needs. if one country attacks another or there is an evil dictator killing people (even his own) then i feel we should go in and help for the good of those who are defenseless.
